Imagine someone, you didn’t know, trying to build a relationship with you and;
They approach you aggressively for a few weeks and then disappear completely for 6 weeks.
Then they’re back, hot and heavy for 10 days, then they’re gone for 3 months.
Would that relationship stand a chance?
Could you even call it a “relationship”?
Sounds like the obvious answer might be;
“Are you kidding me?”
And that’s the obvious answer when you prospect that way!
You know, you have some time, or worse yet, you’re under the gun, so you get all up in someone’s face.
Then you get busy again, or if we’re being completely honest, grow tired of the rejection, and you disappear for a while and then;
Rinse and repeat!
In your defense, you’re not intentionally avoiding potential clients;
You’re well intentioned but become preoccupied.
And that’s how we get our ass kicked in sales!
You Need A Little “Set It And Forget It”
You need something that you can set up, that will continue to nurture your relationships;
While you’re off doing the numerous things you need to do to be a sales rock star!
You need (amongst other things) to have regularly scheduled email blasts to;
People who have agreed to receive them.
And let’s be clear;
This ins’t a substitute for you picking up the phone, stopping by, sending handwritten notes, utilizing your social network, getting creative, using warm intros etc.
It’s simply an effective COMPLEMENT to those things!
It’s also not something where you “set it and forget it” and people just show up to your door with their checkbooks;
It’s something you have running in the background, that creates opportunities for you;
While you’re pursuing other opportunities.
Stop Making This More Difficult
If you’re going to cease ALL prospecting activities until that magical time when;
You have the time;
You’re making this more difficult than it needs to be.
