I’m very selfish about my weekends.
I try my best to avoid business emails. I believe those sending them to me understand that I have a life and for those who don’t, I guess I can always make a note to care what they think.
I try my best to limit the amount of Castain Training Systems stuff that I do and I make sure I spend as much of that time hanging out with my family and doing the things I love to do.
Recharging is a good thing!
There is one thing, however, that I schedule every weekend and I schedule it early BEFORE the wife and kids get up. This way, our time doesn’t suffer and I can still get my time in the bank!
It’s my development time!
During this time I’ll listen to Podcasts, CDs, read books, business magazines and I make sure I have my handy/dandy journal nearby to capture all the golden nuggets.
And now that my kids are older (one is away at college) and liking what experts call “endless amounts of sleep”I try to put in a little extra learning time.
This time of year it’s beautiful in NY, so I try to take it outside with a cup of my favorite coffee, a fine cigar with a nice campfire.
But here’s the point …
We all have good intentions when it comes to getting better at our craft but . . .
We’re also really good at making excuses about how busy we are!
Sadly it never seems to be the right time to schedule some personal development time;
And yet we make time to watch football games and The Walking Dead every week.
You never know where your next AWESOME idea
will come from but . . .
You limit the amount of good ideas that come your way when you’ve shut off your mind to the possibilities!
That’s why I think you’re worth it to schedule that appointment each week with yourself!
Any way, I gotta go.
